Animal research suggests that CLA functions by decreasing energy intake, increasing energy expenditure, regulating lipid metabolism, and reducing fat cell production. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, supplementation with 3.4 g daily of CLA for six months supported a healthy body composition and lean body mass.*
